Therefore, we invite you to get to know five destinations that encourage you to find the kind of vacation you need on the Kurzeme side – active, exploratory or pleasantly lazy.
Lighthouse lovers are attracted by Užava
Although lighthouses are usually associated with romantic sunsets on sultry summer evenings, they are no less tempting and attractive during the colder months of the year. The bright dome of the Užava lighthouse, towering above the pine tree tops, can be seen from afar. At its foot you will also find a well-maintained relaxation area with a wooden canopy, tables and benches, where you can enjoy the hot drinks you have brought with you, but you can also warm up by lighting a campfire in the designated area right next to the canopy. The rest area offers a view of both the sea coast and the 19 meters tall lighthouse tower.

The breath of history in the Pūrciems White dune
The Pūrciems White dune trail stretches along the winding bank of the Pilsupīte River, crosses it and makes a curve on the other side, mimicking the footsteps of the ancient dune formation. Walking along the wooden pathway located in the territory, you will enjoy both the terrain that has been formed for 6,000 years and the surrounding rich forest landscape.

Above the peaks at Ūdrkalns Tower
From the Ūdrkalns observation tower, you have a great opportunity to view Lake Usma from a height of 26 meters. In the nearby forests, you will also find a marked trail, which is perfect for both cycling in the sunny months of the year and active hiking in the winter. If you are planning a longer vacation, you can also take advantage of the opportunity to stay overnight at the nearby LVM tourism and recreation center “Spāre”, in whose territory you will find well-maintained campfire sites and a wide range of offers for both active recreation and peaceful relaxation on the shores of Lake Gulbju.

Āža Hill, located on the outskirts of Tukums, makes your heart beat faster not only because of the picturesque views, but also because of the hilly environment. At the foot of Āža Hill, you will find a well-maintained recreation area with a gazebo, table, benches, and a campfire site, where you can regain strength after an active walk in the local forests. There are also marked walking trails nearby, such as the Vilkaču Trail route, which marks the outline of a wolf's head on the map.
